Teaching For Tomorrow - Positional Play (Second Base)
March 20, 2012
Spring is slowly approaching and baseball season is just around the corner. I see many signs being displayed throughout Calgary advertising Little League Baseball registration dates within the different communities. Clinic dates have been completed throughout the country with Windsor, Ontario already completed.
With this March newsletter as was in February, I will be concentrating on another infield position, second base. As you read on, you will see there are many responsibilities required to play second base. You need to be a good fielder, but not necessarily possessing a strong arm. It is ideal for a smaller player. As each position is not written to directly, much of this is not covered in the Playing the Game manual.

Most of the playoffs will be completed by now and the all-star tournaments are near an end. There should be some very interesting and exciting Canadian Championships from minors through to Big League. Good luck to all competing teams and districts.

February 27, 2011
Coaching baseball is a topic that has been written about for nearly a century. Effective coaching techniques and desired outcomes are written about all of the time. When I read a book on coaching or listen to a successful coach speak on baseball, I'm always excited about learning the techniques they use to achieve the desired outcome of building a great experience for kids.

It is hard to believe that it's August! How quickly summer is passing us by, and I'm sure in most areas you had weather that hampered many games and events. The regular season has come and gone and we are now into all-stars and the completion of the championships.
The Better the Practice, the Better the Team
May 4, 2010
It goes without saying that every practice should be conducted in a safe, caring environment. Safeguarding the health and well being of every child far exceeds anything else that may happen at a practice. Practices should also include a wide variety of fun filled activities and drills. As we all know, fun is the main reason children play any sport.
