Little League Canada

Canadian Rural & Indigenous Initiative Program

Little League Canada has created a flexible approach to welcome rural and indigenous communities to join our Little League Canada family.  Little League Canada understands that a traditional Little League Program model might not be achievable to start in your community but this doesn't mean you can't become an official Little League Program. Little League Canada will work with Leagues and Communities to create an individualized program in hopes that they will become a fully functional Little League Program in the future.

One Team. One Little League.
Joined together by one common goal, every local league is part of One Team. One Little League. Parents, Guardians, Students, and Elders (etc.) are strongly encouraged to become involved in Little League. After completing a Little League volunteer application and passing a required national background check, Parents, Guardians, Students, and Elders (etc.) may become involved in practices, and be eligible as coaches, managers, umpires, local league board members, and other volunteer positions within the league.

About the Program

League Format:
If the program is not able to host traditional Little League age groupings Little League Canada will work with the program on an individual basis for fitting age categories. Such as for example;

• Tee-ball 4 years and above
• 12 and under and 12 and over. (If 12 years of age the child will be placed in the fitting age category by skill level)
- In this example, the league will charter teams in the Minor Division for the 12 and under age category.
-12 and over age category will charter under the division of the oldest participating child.
(If the eldest is 16 years old the League would charter teams in the Senior division.)
